Steps into the nuclear world…

ONDRAF / NIRAS, the National Institute for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Fissile Materials, is investing heavily at its Dessel site for the storage of nuclear waste. An investment for the construction of storage building 167x has been approved in which the storage of low-level radioactive waste will take place. The nuclear waste will be stored in standard barrels which are contained in metal skids per 4.

1845 skids need to be designed, built and installed for this purpose. The first 7 months of the planning will require GELDOF to guide the skids through an engineering process, ranging from a concept skid to a skid that can be produced fully robotized in series and that also meets the highest specific customer requirements.
