They say one person’s waste is another person’s treasure and in our latest project, that treasure is renewable energy.

We’re proud to have completed the construction and successful commissioning of a fuel handling installation for the new biomass boiler that will supply steam to the DS Smith paper mill at Rouen (FR). This installation transforms B-wood (recycled waste wood) and residual by-products from the paper process into clean, reliable energy.

One of the core engineering challenges was ensuring that the boiler receives the right fuel mix at the right moment, a precise balancing act that required smart design, advanced control systems, and seamless teamwork. The outcome is a highly efficient, sustainable solution that reduces dependence on fossil fuels and supports DS Smith’s ongoing commitment to circular production.
