History

Over 50 years of growth and innovation

1969

Humble beginnings

Geldof Metaalconstructie nv was founded to support the flax industry. Recognising the growing demand for industrial metal structures, Geldof quickly transitioned to the metallurgical sector, setting the stage for decades of growth and innovation.

1995

Expansion in Harelbeke

Growing demand went hand in hand with the expansion of the facilities in Harelbeke. We added new office buildings, state-of-the-art workshops, and extra halls for assembly, paint treatment, and stainless steel production. The installation of a new loading quay significantly improved our logistic operations, allowing for the efficient transport of large constructions directly from our site.

2012

Embracing the future as Engicon

We rebranded to better reflect our international ambitions, adopting the name Engicon nv while keeping the ‘Geldof’ brand as a nod to our heritage of excellence. This rebranding also introduced a new logo and revitalized our corporate identity, marking a transformative period for our business.

It positioned us for expansion, new business opportunities, and strengthened our focus on innovation, all while maintaining the reputation we built under the Geldof name.

2015

Enhanced expertise

By integrating G&G’s intellectual property and expertise, we further expanded our engineering capabilities and service offerings, strengthening our position in the market.

2019

Geographical expansion

To meet rising demand in the Netherlands, we established Engicon Nederland and opened a new office in Rotterdam. This strategic move brought us closer to our clients and improved our operational efficiency.

2021

Growing in Europoort Rotterdam

Our move to a larger facility in Europoort Rotterdam gave our growing team more office space and modern workshops. This enabled us to take on a broader range of welding and assembly projects with greater efficiency.

2022

Leading in sustainability

In 2022, we made significant strides in reducing our carbon footprint by installing 1,794 photovoltaic panels and transitioning to 100% renewable energy at our Harelbeke headquarters. This move reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility.

Structure

Engicon Group is a conglomerate comprising Engicon nv and its fully owned subsidiaries, Engicon Nederland bv and Engicon Poland z o.o. The privately owned Engicon nv operates under the brand name ‘Geldof.’

Geldof follows a matrix organisational structure, where each project, from concept to completion, is led by a multi-disciplinary project manager. This project manager empowers a dedicated in-house team, combining the expertise of senior staff with the fresh perspectives of driven junior members. Known for their strong sense of personal responsibility, our team brings flexibility, a relentless pursuit of excellence, and a commitment to continuous improvement to every client and supplier relationship.

Locations

Located in Harelbeke, Belgium, Geldof’s headquarters combine project management, engineering, fabrication, and supporting services in one integrated location. Within our workshops, we handle a wide range of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and specialized alloys. Strategically positioned along the Leie River, our quay facility provides direct access to the seaports of Ghent and Antwerp, enabling transport of large constructions by ship or road—making us ready to deliver solutions wherever they’re needed.

Our Europoort Rotterdam location combines workshop facilities for fast turnaround with dedicated office space, providing a streamlined approach to serve our clients efficiently.
