Blending Sustainability with Design: Eneco Heat Buffers in Utrecht
We are proud to have completed the construction and installation of four heat buffers for Eneco, part of their initiative to optimise the Utrecht district heating network, which serves over 55,000 households. By flattening heat demand, these buffers reduce the need for additional assets, improving the network’s efficiency and enabling the integration of sustainable energy sources such as geothermal and aquathermal heat.
Smart Engineering for a Greener Future
The heat buffers are designed by Eneco to minimize energy loss and maximize efficiency. Thanks to innovative engineering, including advanced diffusers, the system keeps the warm and cold water layers intact, ensuring efficient energy transfer. Thorough testing has shown that our tanks not only meet but exceed performance expectations, with insulation that retains heat far better than anticipated.
Sustainability in Action
This project showcases how sustainable energy solutions can enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of urban infrastructure. By reducing the environmental impact of heating, these heat buffers contribute to a greener future while integrating beautifully into their surroundings. For Geldof, it’s a privilege to play a part in projects that combine innovation, sustainability, and urban design.
