Geldof rolls out the blue carpet for the Iron Run!
Last Saturday, Geldof was proud to welcome over 400 runners and supporters for the Iron Run challenge Harelbeke. With a red carpet dyed a lovely Geldof-blue for the occasion, and the thumping beats of our sound system, participants not only experienced a unique passage through our workshop, but – according to several reports afterwards – experienced a true runner’s high. The runners completed 1 or 2 laps (respectively 5 or 10 km) in the wake of the Iron Man challenger Michaël Vannieuwenhuyze, who completed a full triathlon on Harelbeke soil. Both the triathlon and the 5K/10K runs raised funds in support of Kom op tegen Kanker (the Belgian anti-cancer society).
It came as no surprise that we accomplish some truly spectacular feats at Geldof. But this time we really surpassed ourselves:
- we transformed a regular site container into a beautiful information booth for the occasion;
– we rolled out no less than 200 meters of blue carpet through our entire workshop; - we demarcated the course with 120 crush barriers and posts, as well as 2 km of tension tape;
- as a highlight, an impressive bridge of Geldof containers was set up under which the runners made their passage.
Our efforts not only put a smile on the runners’ faces, but also made the organizing committee happy: thanks to our participation, we were able to donate no less than € 6500 in support of the anti-cancer society.
The Geldof flag was flying high on Saturday, and we could not be prouder of what we’ve accomplished!
A big thank you to all our Iron Run participants, as well as to the volunteers who made it all possible!
PS: We made an impressive after-movie of the event. Take a look, and enjoy!
